A Premier League player is scheduled to appear in court following a 'acid attack and kidnapping' case that required surgery.

This week, Brentford striker Yoane Wissa will travel to France to witness the trial of a lady who allegedly used acid on him and tried to abduct his child. Wissa suffered severe facial injuries in the summer of 2021 and needed emergency eye surgery as a result of the incident. It was said that he was lucky to have kept his sight.
The assault happened a few weeks prior to Wissa's £8.5 million transfer from Lorient to Brentford. Nottingham Forest is interested in Wissa and made a proposal of almost £20 million for him earlier this week. However, Wissa will be returning to France this week to attend the hearing.
Wissa's attorney, Karim Morand-Lahouazi, told French publication RMC Sport prior to the trial that the woman, identified as Mrs. Laetitia P, had intended to abduct Wissa's newborn daughter. According to Morand-Lahouazi, "Mrs. Laetitia P. attempted to abduct the daughter of Yoane Wissa, a player for FC Lorient at the time who was undergoing a transfer to Brentford, on the evening of July 1 to 2, 2021." In the middle of the night, this individual broke into the player's house and threw a caustic liquid into my client's eyes, which would have had far more dire repercussions. When he touched this liquid, he experienced excruciating pain.
She intended to abduct the child of Yoane Wissa. My client's intervention made it possible for the accused to escape somewhat swiftly. The child was ultimately not abducted. It should be noted that this woman had visited the player's house a few hours prior to the event in order to request an autograph. The accused woman had deceived to her husband "for months" about being pregnant, Morand-Lahouazi continued. "I believe she was formulating her scheme to abduct a child of mixed race during all of this time. No one is debating it. The purchasing of this caustic chemical from a grocery close to my client's house even demonstrates premeditation. She attempted to abduct a mixed-race couple's child. That was her intention.
According to Morand-Lahouazi, Wissa will be present for the two days of the trial and is awaiting "clearer explanations." He said that although the Brentford striker and his family feel "sheltered" and safe in England, there are "after-effects" from the alleged incident. Wissa has scored 11 goals in 19 Premier League games for Brentford so far this season, which has been fantastic. On Sunday, they play Crystal Palace in their next game.
