In 2025, Africa Oil Week will move from Cape Town to Accra.

September 15–18, 2025, will see Accra host the esteemed Africa Oil Week (AOW) conference, a major gathering in the world petroleum industry. This shift from Cape Town to Ghana's capital, which was jointly announced by the Ghanaian government, AOW organizers, and the Africa Prosperity Network, highlights Ghana's increasing significance in Africa's energy scene and its aspirations to serve as a focal point for energy investment throughout the continent.
In a videotaped statement, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo said he was proud to host the event and called it a historic milestone for Ghana's and Africa's energy future. It gives me great pleasure to support Africa Oil Week and to applaud its relocation from Cape Town to Accra. I want to thank Sankofa Events for choosing Ghana to be the new host of this important event," he said. Paul Sinclair, the founder of AOW and CEO of Sankofa Events, was also praised by President Akufo Addo for his commitment to developing Africa's energy potential.
This move represents a change to an energy development strategy led by Africans. "Africa Oil Week is about Africa setting its own path for the development of its natural resources," Mr. Sinclair said. Our objective is to ensure that our people have access to energy and to make Africa a major player in the world energy scene. He emphasized the significance of creating alliances that place equal emphasis on sustainability and growth. Herbert Krapa, the Minister of Trade and Industry, further reaffirmed Ghana's commitment to this initiative at a press conference today at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra. He said Ghana hopes to host a summit that will bring together national oil companies, regulatory bodies, and African ministers.
"The arrival of Africa Oil Week in Ghana is a landmark occasion for the continent, aligning perfectly with our vision at the Petroleum Commission to strengthen Ghana's upstream potential and develop new frameworks," said Egbert Faibille Junior, CEO of the Petroleum Commission, highlighting the significance of the event in line with Ghana's vision for a competitive upstream sector. AOW's strategic partner, Africa Prosperity Network, reiterated these ideas and emphasized the significance of giving African service providers access to global programs.
It is a great moment for Ghana and the oil and gas industry in Africa to host a world-class event like AOW in Accra," a network spokesman said. It is anticipated that the gathering would bring together global industry executives to discuss Africa's energy potential and to encourage investment and business dealings. Africa Oil Week, which is slated to take place at Accra's Kempinski Hotel from September 15 to 18, 2025, will serve as a forum for promoting communication, creativity, and cooperation, placing Ghana at the center of Africa's energy aspirations.
